Netflix's historical drama series "Vikings: Valhalla" is a Jeb Stuart-created show about the Vikings. The film was shot in County Wicklow, Ireland, as a follow-up to History's Vikings. The series depicts the beginning of the end of the Viking Age, highlighted by the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066, one hundred years after the events of the Vikings. On February 25th, 2022, the show made its debut. The sitcom was officially revived for a second and third season in March 2022, with a 24-episode order revealed in November 2019.
Episodes
1. Harald Sigurdsson departs for Norway on Saint Brice's Day from the Danelaw, an English Viking settlement. To make matters worse for Harald's family, English King Aethelred II gives the order to execute all of Denmark's immigrants in England, including his brother, Sten Sigurdsson. Denmark's King Canute summons all of his Viking warriors to Kattegat, where they create an army to seek revenge on the people who wronged them. As Freyda's quest for revenge against the man who raped and disfigured her years before takes them through a storm, they are oblivious to the carnage in Kattegat. It's not long until she tracks down the perpetrator, Gunnar Magnsson, a devoted Christian who is loyal to Harald's elder half-brother, Olaf Haraldsson. Harald offers Leif fame if he joins him in England because of Erik the Red's reputation, which Leif subsequently supports. Freyd sneaks into the big hall later that night and murders Gunnar. King Jarl Haakon of Kattegat intervenes to save Olaf from killing Freydis as he is about to kill him out of wrath. In the wake of Gunnar's death, Harald tells everyone that Freyd's scar on her back proves that her death was warranted. According to Haakon's statement, a decision will be made in the morning.
2. Kattegat: Freyd's proposal for a combat trial with Olaf is rejected. Instead, Harald enlists Leif's assistance in his mission to avenge the Saxons in England. Before departing Kattegat with the Viking army, Freyds says his goodbyes to Leif and the rest of the Greenlanders. Freyds is sent to Uppsala by Haakon to fulfill her destiny. One of the Viking commanders, Jarl Gorm, and his son, Arne Gormsson, grow suspicious of Leif on the trip to England. After Gorm assaults and kills the Greenlander Birger, Leif kills Gorm just as they arrive at England's shores. As Aethelred's health deteriorates, Godwin and Aethelred debate the Vikings' invasion preparations in England. In a subsequent visit to her now-bedridden spouse, Emma of Normandy, Queen of England, she is warned by her husband that London must be guarded. Edmund, the heir to the throne of England, is sent by Emma to seek support from Eadric Streona, the Ealdorman of Mercia. When Edmund returns to London, the bells ring, indicating the death of Aethelred, whom Edmund had persuaded Streona to provide Mercian warriors.
3. Once they've taken Kent, the Vikings find that Aethelred's son is still alive, so they turn their attention to him. Harald and Leif lead a reconnaissance mission into the adjacent marshes while the army sets up camp near London. They are forced to flee after being attacked by Mercian troops, who murder Ulf the Greenlander and leave Leif behind. As they approach London's bridge, they realize that it has a drawbridge in the middle, which Harald returns to save. Meanwhile, Godwin instructs Edmund on how to be more cruel in the real world of combat while they train in London. Edmund is anointed King of England after receiving complete support from the other Ealdorman who desire to proceed with his coronation. A berserker attacks Freyd's group in Sweden, killing the Greenlander Toke and injuring Yrsa gravely. First, Freydis takes down the attacker, then brings Yrsa in for treatment at the nearby clinic. Following a trail of Yrsa's blood that Jarl Kre discovers, he continues to investigate the Berserker's corpse.
4. The Viking chieftains plan their approaching attack on London by taking advantage of the bridge and luring King Edmund away from his palace. During the conversation with Streona, Edmund outlines his strategy for protecting London against the Viking invasion, which includes outflanking and trapping them on the bridge. Despite her admiration for King Edmund's stratagem, Streona fears the loss of the Mercians, but Edmund assures her that Mercia will take the glory. Upon the arrival of the Viking army outside of London, Canute teases Edmund into going into battle with his warriors, in defiance of Emma and Godwin's counsel. Fighting rages on between the Vikings and the Saxons until Canute leads the Saxons into an ambush on the opposite bank of the bridge. The bridge is weakened by Harald, Leif, and several others, who hook ropes to the supports and use Olaf's longboats to bring it down. Emma is quick to discover this and orders Saxon archers to murder the saboteurs, who manage to kill the Vikings Johan and Tomas, as well as the Greenlanders Skarde and Njal. Emma's mission is completed. Despite Godwin's warnings, Edmund fails to cross the bridge in time and is caught in the middle of the Vikings' victory. After seeing the Saxons' loss, Streona chooses to break up with Edmund.
5. London is conquered by the Vikings, who kidnap Emma and the other nobility. Canute thwarts Harald's effort to extract retribution by having Edmund beheaded. Olaf's hidden son, Magnus, is revealed as a result of his commitment to becoming Harald Norway's next king. It's a relief for Leif to learn that Liv made it out of combat unscathed. He gives a Viking funeral to his deceased comrades and grieves for them, but he is having a crisis of faith. At a feast to commemorate the victory, Canute gives his soldiers their rewards and frees Leif from his sister's debt, describing him as a hero. Finally, Canute kills Streona and claims to be the first Norse King of England because of Streona's deceit. He also falls in love with Emma and saves her kidnapped children from Olaf. Freyd's participation in a Pagan rite in Uppsala sheds light on her ancestry. The Seer appears to her in a vision, advising her to put the past behind her and turn toward the future. Yrsa is killed by Kre as he seeks revenge at the healer's cottage. Freyd then wakes up from her vision and leaves Uppsala, where she had been.
6. As she arrives at the healer's hut, Kre instructs her to notify Haakon that he's on his way. A shieldmaiden like Altöra, Haakon's second-in-command, trains Freyds in Kattegat. Haakon relates her own vision of The Seer to Freyd who is the "Last Daughter of Uppsala," according to Haakon, who relates her own vision of The Seer. During this time, Kre makes it to Uppsala, where he is greeted by The Seer and given a vision of some sort. While Harald and Leif remain in Kattegat, Olaf departs England with his army and proceeds to Denmark. Olaf approaches Queen lfgifu, the Mercian wife of King Canute of Denmark, in Denmark to beg for her help in becoming the king of Norway. In Kattegat, Harald's soldiers soon arrive, and the last three Greenlanders — Freydis, Leif, and Liv — are reunited. Freyd's later defeats Altöra in a single battle and she becomes a shieldmaiden, vowing her allegiance to Kattegat. Canute's advisers in London, Godwin and Emma, tell him that the Ealdorman are on the verge of mutiny. It is Canute's promise that he will return the Ealdormans' titles in exchange for their devotion. Canute gets anxious about Emma and their relationship after receiving a letter from Denmark.
7. As a warning, Kattegat receives the bodies of Uppsala's priests from Kre. Following Kre's carnage at Uppsala, Harald, Leif, and Freyd learn from the survivors that Kre's God had instructed him to exterminate all Pagans. Olaf and Kre form an alliance to seize Kattegat in order to unify Norway. With this information, Harald's troops assist Haakon in preparing for Olaf and Kre's arrival. When Edmund arrives in London, he learns that Canute had secretly married Emma before he sailed for Denmark to battle the Vends. King Sweyn Forkbeard, Canute's father, arrives to take over the throne, and his granddaughter Gytha, Emma's new lady-in-waiting, is Sweyn's granddaughter. Sigeferth, the Ealdorman of Wessex, confronts Edmund and Forkbeard. After insulting Sigeferth, Forkbeard kills him, and Godwin becomes the first Jarl of Wessex. Godwin betrays Edmund and stabs him in the heart, leaving Canute as the only ruler of England because he is angry over Forkbeard's presence. Forkbeard comes to London with the Canute fleet and threatens to direct it to help Olaf and his conquest.
8. Forkbeard banishes Emma to Normandy to prevent LFGIFU from sending Canute's fleet to Olaf. After that, lfgifu and Godwin went to Mercia to persuade the locals to side with Forkbeard. However, Forkbeard locates Canute's fleet and Emma reclaims the crown of England in Lfgifu's absence. Harald meets Olaf in Norway and decides to support him. Though Olaf has revealed his strategy to Kattegat, he does it in secrecy. Kre's soldiers launch an attack on the city's defenses to begin the Battle of Kattegat. Altöra and Arne are slain by Kre's supporters, while Haakon is struck by a hail of arrows and dies as a result of her injuries. Kre pursues Freyd to the grand hall, where she decapitates him. In order to divide Kattegat's men, Olaf devises a deception. Odin's warriors arrive in Kattegat, and Olaf shoots Liv, killing her instantly in Leif's embrace. A wounded Harald receives assistance from Freyd's during the battle. As soon as Forkbeard comes with Canute's fleet, Olaf's soldiers escape from Kattegat. Forkbeard's grandson is drenched in blood, and some of Kre's supporters have been slain by Harald Harefoot, Forkbeard's grandson.
