A military contractor hires an ex-marine to fly to Panama in order to consummate a weapons transaction. His involvement in the US invasion of Panama led him to gain a valuable lesson about the nature of real political power.

An ex-marine, James Becker, is shown killing an invader in Panama before the voiceover declares, "There's nothing more rock 'n' roll than taking out the bad guys for the red, white, and blue." Since the film is directed by Mark Neveldine, all of this implies that the subsequent 90 minutes will be equally self-aware and ludicrous (most known for the wildly entertaining and outrageous Crank flicks).

Let me tell you, taking out the bad guys for the red, white, and blue is nothing more rock 'n' roll than that, " Cole Hauser's ex-marine James Becker says in the film's opening voiceover, followed by a view of Hauser's character murdering an intruder. Since the film is directed by Mark Neveldine, all of this implies that the subsequent 90 minutes will be equally self-aware and ludicrous (most known for the wildly entertaining and outrageous Crank flicks).

Unfortunately, Becker has a terrible past. After the death of his wife, he became despondent and couldn't get back into the game. On a daily basis, in a drunken state, he makes his way to the graveyard to pay his respects to his late wife, Tatyana (Kate Katzman) (she is also offscreen for the rest of the movie until she is brought back in the most lazily convenient way imaginable). Although Stark (a bored Mel Gibson with little to do until he gets the modern-day Bruce Willis climax, showing up to rescue the day) feels it's time for Becker to stop mourning, he sends him to Panama to tie de facto Panamanian leader Manuel Noriega with narcotics and other crimes. Nevertheless,

Mark Neveldine, on the other hand, isn't surrendering his insanity for the chance to say anything important about the United States' participation in Panama in 1989. The premise is as predictable as they come, and the action sequences are as tedious as they are exciting. Rock music is played in the jungle before the characters unleash fire on their adversaries, although the song is so generic that it might be stock rock music. Because someone is listed as the composer of the music, I'm very certain it's not them. There are three sex scenes with a femme fatale type who is also a wasteful and uninteresting character throughout the course of the investigation, and none of them is fascinating or generates true passion.

While the film's opening sequence teases a plethora of shootouts, the narrative nonetheless fizzles off and seems more interested in rushing through several epilogues, skipping over anything resembling a climax. It doesn't even matter whether the film kills off some of its most essential characters or brings others back to put them in last-minute peril, because there's no real connection between them.

Cole Hauser is a dreary, uninspiring primary character in this film. At least Panama isn't going for schlock or anarchy, which would give him more material to work with. Panama's defense It's disconcerting to see when genuine historical events are spliced in, because the locations already don't feel authentic and the tone of these events doesn't inspire truth. As if a drug from Crank was a movie dose, you look at the screen for 95 minutes before it fades out.
