Beyonce will absolutely perform at the Oscars on March 27, as previously reported.
It's unclear if she'll come from the tennis court in Compton, as featured in the film "King Richard," where Venus and Serena Williams reportedly practiced in the early '90s. The Best Original Song candidates for Sunday's presentation were revealed at that time.
Beyoncé will sing "Be Alive" from "King Richard," for which she and Dixson are also up for Grammys. "No Time to Die" by Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas will be performed during this year's Grammy Awards. If it wins, "Dos Oruguitas" from "Encanto" will be sung by Sebastián Yatra (for which writer Lin-Manuel Miranda would receive the award if it wins). The song "Somehow You Do" from "Four Good Days" by Diane Warren, a perennial Oscar underdog, will be sung by Reba McEntire at the ceremony.
Van Morrison, who was nominated for "Down to Joy" from "Belfast," is currently on tour and won't be able to attend the Academy Awards. Because of this, that song will not be performed.
Will Packer and Shayla Cowan, the producers of the live Academy Awards presentation, revealed on March 18 that the All-Star Band, directed by music director Adam Blackstone, will perform.
Band members include Blink-182's Travis Barker, Sheila E. (drums and vocals), and Robert Glasper (piano and percussion).
There will also be a performance by DJ D-Nice, who began the virtual Club Quarantine parties during the COVID-19 epidemic. At the Governors Ball, which is the AFMAS official post-Oscar party,
Prior to next Sunday's award show, the Academy's organizers plan to have a rolling list of performers and musical guests. Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes are hosting the 2022 Oscars. Shawn Mendes, Simu Liu, and Samuel L. Jackson are among the big names that will be taking the stage.
Controversy erupted after the Academy announced that eight categories would be pre-recorded in advance of the live broadcast in order to reduce the broadcast duration. There will be no live Dolby Theatre ceremony this year since Academy President David Rubin declared that the winners will be revealed outside of the Dolby Theatre during a separate event for documentary short film editing, make-up and hairstyling, original score, production design, and sound.
Open letters signed by members of the film industry pleading with the Academy to overturn its "demeaning" decision included James Cameron, Guillermo del Toro, John Williams, and Kathleen Kennedy.
"We are destroying the Academy's reputation as fair and objective judges of the most prestigious awards in our profession by reducing any of these categories for the sake of ratings or short-term profit," the letter stated. It is admirable and vital to seek new audiences by making the telecast more enjoyable, but this cannot be done by degrading the same skills that, in their most exceptional representations, make the art of filmmaking worthy of celebration.
The Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood will host the 94th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 27. EST/5 p.m. PST. The event will be broadcast live on ABC at 8 p.m.
